Modern Slavery Statement
Clothes should be made by people who chose the work, are paid for it and are free to leave it. This statement sets out what we expect of everyone who makes and ships our pieces, and how anyone can raise a concern.
Who we are
The business this covers.
Daniel And Charles sells women's and men's clothing, shoes and accessories online, to customers in the United States and Australia. Our pieces are made by independent manufacturers and reach you through fulfillment and shipping partners. This statement covers them, and it covers us.
Where we stand
No forced labor, anywhere.
We do not accept slavery, forced labor, human trafficking or child labor anywhere in our business or in the making and shipping of what we sell.
What we expect
Our standards for suppliers.
Work is chosen freely. No forced, bonded, prison or trafficked labor, and no one held to a job by debt.
No fees to get a job, no papers held. Workers never pay to be hired, and their passports and identity papers stay with them.
No child labor. Everyone is at least the legal minimum working age where they work.
Fair pay and hours. At least the legal minimum wage, paid in full and on time, with hours and overtime within the law.
Safe, decent workplaces. Sound buildings, clear fire exits, clean water and safe equipment.
Respect at work. No harassment, abuse, threats or punishment by fines, and the freedom to leave with reasonable notice.
The same standards down the line. Suppliers hold anyone they use to these standards, and tell us before they pass our work to another workshop.
If a supplier falls short
Put right, or we part ways.
Where we learn that a supplier is not meeting these standards, we expect it to be put right quickly. A supplier that will not put it right is not one we will keep working with.
Raise a concern
Anyone can tell us.
A worker, a supplier, a customer or a member of the public: anyone can raise a concern, and you do not need proof. Email hello@danielandcharles.com with Modern slavery in the subject line, and tell us what you saw or heard, where and when.
A person reads every message and replies within 1 business day, and we treat what you send in confidence.
If someone is in danger now
Call 911 in the United States or 000 in Australia. In the US, the National Human Trafficking Hotline answers on 1-888-373-7888. In Australia, the Australian Federal Police take reports on 131 237.
